I recently bought an AMD Radeon HD 7970 for my computer as i was tired of the low FPS with my old NVIDIA 9800GT. After installing the new 7970 and playing a few games i didn't notice a big difference in FPS.I'm guessing there might be a possible bottleneck in my system? My specs are:
8GB (4GB x 2 )DDR3 RAM
AM3+ AMD 880GZ SATA 6Gb/s HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
AMD FX-4100 Zambezi 3.6GHz Quad-Core
ST3500630NS ATA HDD

Thanks in advance.

Have you completely removed the old nVidia drivers and installed the latest AMD drivers?

if it's a CPU intensive game... then there's your answer.

Overclock your CPU a bit

Arma 2 is very poorly coded and doesnt run well anyway.

What settings are you trying to play on? Are you just getting poor fps? These are also all DX11 games.

So for on all of these games I have been playing on Med-Low graphics getting around 30 FPS.
I have seen performance videos on youtube and my card doesn't seem up to par.
