I have a pretty decent IDE optical drive. I'd rather go without an optical drive than shell out the money for a new one. So i was looking for a suggestion for some kind of adapter so that i could just use the IDE drive with my SATA MoBo.

Links to newegg would be appreciated.

Would there be any performance sacrifice associated with this?

I get where you're coming from with the link, the thing is the reason i came here is because that search gives you a huge variety of things that aren't sata to ide adapters. So i was looking for a few specific links. Perhaps i should have been clearer on that.

As for why, because, like i said, i'd rather not have a drive at all than shell out the $20 for a new one if i can spend like $5 for something thats more than adequate for my needs. all i'm really looking for is the option to read CD's on the rare occasion that i may need to. i wont be gaming from it or anything.
