Hey everyone,

I'm about to build a gaming PC (I'm a first time PC builder) and wanted to get everyone thoughts on the following build. My original budget was $1500 for everything but I've gone a bit past it.

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO (Amazon $33.24 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005O65JXI/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER )

Mouse: Corsair Vengance M65 (Amazon $74.98 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ARD5410/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2UWRIL142AZQ0 )

Keyboard Corsair Vengance K70 Mechanical Keyboard (Amazon $109.99 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CD1FCAC/ref=ox_sc_act_title_4?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER )

Memory: Corsair Vengance 8bg (2 sticks x 4gb each) x 2 = [total memory of 16gb] (Amazon $160 for 16gb http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004CRSM4I/ref=ox_sc_act_title_5?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER )

Motherboard: ASUS ATX DDR3 2600 LGA 1150 (Amazon $299 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EM4SHA0/ref=ox_sc_act_title_6?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER )

Power Supply: Corsair Enthusiast Series TX 750 Watt (Amazon $89.99 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004MYFODI/ref=ox_sc_act_title_7?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER )

Hard Drive: WD Blue 1 TB Desktop Hard Drive: 3.5 Inch, 7200 RPM, SATA 6 Gb/s, 64 MB Cache (Amazon $64.95 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0088PUEPK/ref=ox_sc_act_title_8?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER )

Case: NZXT Guardian 921 RB ATX Mid Tower Case (Amazon $66.99 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004351H9G/ref=ox_sc_act_title_9?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1TSN35NIS24VZ)

Monitor: Asus VS247H-P 23.6-Inch Full-HD LED-Lit LCD Monitor (Amazon $167.99 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005BZNDS0/ref=ox_sc_act_title_10?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER )

CPU: Intel Core-i5 3350P Quad-Core Processor 3.1 Ghz 6 MB Cache LGA 1155 (Amazon $178.30 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0093H8NBY/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER )

Video Card: Gigabyte AMD Radeon HD 7970 OC 3GB GDDR5 DVI-I/HDMI/2x Mini-Displayport PCI-E 3.0 Graphics Card GV-R797OC-3GD (Amazon $309.99 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00752QYLK/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER )

Operating System: Windows 8 System Builder OEM DVD 64-Bit (Amazon $94.99)

TOTAL: $1, 650.19

I realize newegg has some of these parts for cheaper, but I just used Amazon for the convenience of keeping everything in my cart as I adjust it.

I would greatly appreciate everyone's thoughts or advice on this build. This site has been a great resource so far!

No, ditch that whole build - pretty much everything is wrong. You don't need a motherboard that expensive for a CPU that can't be overclocked. You're just throwing away money there. Buy a CPU that is unlocked, $1500 or more - always get the unlocked CPU. Most modern motherboards will practically overclock for you any more. Also lose the expensive keyboard - you can always get that later. Plus there are ones that are better, for less money like the Gigabyte Osmium.

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($225.99 @ NCIX US)
CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X60 98.3 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($109.99 @ Newegg)...

Will start with: CPU is 1155 mobo is 1150 the two won't work together, if going the formula mobo, should prob be looking at a 4670K or 4770K, if the CPU is the key factor then look to a good $100 or so 1155 mobo - then let us know what your list is

With this build:

- Unlocked CPU
- Better cooler
- Motherboard that supports overclocking and SLI
- Better PSU
- Better GPU
- Better, less expensive keyboard

Just get this, it's better. You get $150 left over to add whatever monitor you want.
