Hi all,

I am currently doing a little investigating into a PC build for a friend. He is looking to build a new PC for home and doesn't have much knowledge on the subject, but has a $1100(AUS) budget. I have detailed all the specs / requirements below and if anyone is able to input some advice / parts list (I am familiar with part picker) that'd be a great help.

Approximate Purchase Date: 2 weeks from today.

Budget Range: $1100 AUS. ($50 either way is OK, doesn't need to be to the dollar)

System Usage: Mainly music / movies / possibly World of Warcraft.

Are you buying a monitor: Yes

Parts to Upgrade: Graphics card / Motherboard / RAM / PSU / CPU / Optical drive / Case / Monitor / HDD (NO SSD Required)

Do you need to buy OS: No.

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Anywhere is fine as long as it is based in Australia.

Location: City, State/Region, Country: Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.

Parts Preferences: I understand that AMD is a much preferred brand when looking at lower budget builds, so I am expecting to see a few AMD builds posted. I am completely OK with that and the best bang I can get for my friends $1100, is what I am chasing. No intel / amd fanboy here.

Overclocking: No - never. Not required.

SLI or Crossfire: No - never. Not required.

Your Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080 I'd say?

Additional Comments: This computer will be hooked up to a Bravia 55" Smart TV occasionally. (LED I believe if that makes a difference) So I am not sure if any additional / specific components are affected or required because of this. But just if all posters could keep this in mind that'd be great thanks.

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: His old PC (which he bought about 7 years ago) has a friend motherboard and is looking to just build his own so that he can have something he is familiar with (Also this is a nice practice run for me as I am looking to create my own build in a months time ;) )

Thanks to all that reply to this thread, all input is greatly appreciated, hopefully I can get some good feedback and look at ordering this for him very soon.

Regards,

Kodie.

Hey MauveCloud, thanks for the reply.

That PC looks great in theory, however I do require a monitor for my friend as well so that will bump it up a couple hundred $. But thanks for the input on an intel build, I will definitely put this forward an see if the will go for spending the extra bucks.

P.S. Edited original post to include an AMD build I Have come up with, would love to hear feedback.
