Want a gaming computer, I have put together a list of parts and would like advice on if this will work, so I can go ahead and purchase, or if some adjustments need to be made.

Also would like advice on if there are areas i'm spending more money than I need to, (i.e. cheaper parts that work just as well) or areas where I perhaps need to invest more money.

CPU: Intel Core i5 3570

MOTHERBOARD:Gigabyte GA-Z77-HD3

MEMORY: G.Skill DDR3-1600 8GB Dual Channel

STORAGE: Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 2TB

CASE: Antec Twelve Hundred V3

POWER SUPPLY: 520W Antec 80 Plus Bronze

OPTICAL DRIVE: Samsung SH-224DB

VIDEO CARD:Gigabyte GF GTX 650Ti

Approximate Purchase Date: ASAP (next few days)

Budget Range: $1000 on parts, excluding monitor and OS.

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, Online video chatting, Internet Surfing, occasional video editing.

Are you buying a monitor: Yes

Do you need to buy OS: Yes

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: I am purchasing all parts from eyo.com.au

Location: Sydney, NSW, Australia

Parts Preferences: I am basing the build off Intel.

Overclocking: No

Your Monitor Resolution: Not that picky.

Additional Comments: Very impressed by the Antec Twelve Hundred V3 Case, so need parts that will fit that, unless someone can provide a case that looks just as good.

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: Have a macbook that is running very slowly and I use my brother's PC to game a lot, would like my own system.

Your parts are good (maybe consider the k version of the 3570 if you want to overclock it later) but what confuses me is that you want a gaming computer, and you take a 650ti?

Your graphics card should be the most expensive and high end part of your build for gaming.. you should get like a GTX 770 if you can, or 760 to respect budget constrains.

I would recommend the 770 since the price/performances for this card are very good. Non reference card like MSI, Asus, EVGA are very good.

Maybe you will have to make some sacrifices if you want to fit a good gaming card in your 1000$ budget, but keep the 3570 CPU it is very good.
