I have an asus RT-10E wireless router that I use for internet connection. Earlier I used to connect directly to the modem. I have a 10 Mbps connection and get the same when using my modem directly but when I connect the router my speed never crosses 2 Mbps mark however I use it. I rechecked it again and there is no problem with the modem.
Plz guide me on what to do

Are you connecting wirelessly? If so is it a wireless b/g/n router?(n being the most important part of my question) if so is the wiressless card in your PC wireless n capatible? You won't get 10mbps on any router or wireless card if there not wireless n.

its a wireless n router, and yes I am trying to connect wirelessly and my laptop's wireless card is capable of a/b/g/n and so is the router. to test speed capability of my router, I transferred files to another laptop connected to the router and I got a transfer speed of 3 MBps
