Hi everyone on Tom's Hardware!

I am currently planning for my 1st ever self-build custom gaming PC.
I am not sure whether this PC is high end or not, but I do feel that it is...

I build this pc to play games like, crysis series, farcry series, COD series, BF series, diablo3,dead space 3... half-life 4.. mainly first person shooter game, as well as starcraft 2, gtaV... some other RPG game and other "high end" games.

Specs:
processor: intel i7-4770K

motherboard: Asus Maximus VI Hero

GPU: Palit GTX780 Super jetstream
(from benchmarks I dropped GTX780 OC from EVGA, MSI, ASUS ... as Palit's is a bit cheaper? and real perfomance in game better in benchmarks)
not going to SLI... this card should last me long enough for years before newer technology arrives next time..(am using one monitor only)

Ram: I dont know yet ( should be DDR3, but how many Gb? (16Gb?) how many Hz? what brand?)

Case: Dont know yet

PSU: dont know yet

Storage: not sure...

cooling? liquid cooling? not sure...

monitor: existing samsung 23inch HD LED... 60Hz.. (should 120hz LCDscreen give difference?)
and why there is no IPS type 120hz screen? although I heard of some korean Catleap/QNix...

everything else not much idea except processor mobo and gpu...

Recommendations are very much welcomed!!

Thanks!!!

Hi Marcopolo thanks for reply!

1)about USD2000, not going to exceed this amount by too much

2)I am from asia! a small country.

3)Had zero experience in overclocking, but seems like the asus Mobo is "easier" for overclock starter...I am interested to OC, maybe abit.

But i heard that normally the perfect screen size for gaming is either 23" or 24" with 1080p (which native resolution is 1920x1080)
...1440p is 27" isnt?
I am not really pro haha

By the way, is amd Hawaii high end series? I do know that amd got new event last week, but haven't look thru. Furthermore, I have less knowledge about amd..

i7 is totally overkill for gaming. go for the i5 4670k instead. it will have equal performance at the same price. is there a reason you went for the matx hero rather than another such as the formula? good gpu choise. watch this video concerning ram: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dWgzA2C61z4 the corsair 540 air cube case is pretty awesome. antec, coolermaster, silverstone are all psu brands. go for about a 650 watt+ psu. the best storage these days is 1 2tb hdd and one 256gb ssd. if you plan to oc, go for the h100i or the cooler master hyper 212 evo if you want something cheaper. 120 hz is overkill unless you have a gpu to run games at 120 fps. ips technology due to technology limits simply refreshes slower. however, 60 hz is plenty smooth for most people and ips colors far outweigh the fast refresh on gaming monitors for me.

1440p can also be on 24 inch. the xxxxp is how sharp the picture looks. it has little to do with the size of the screen.

By the way, do u use Qnix before? i heard that the Qnix Qx2710 something is good, clear screen with PLS and can be oc to 120Hz!

I was looking at Asus VG248QE 144hz, but that is a TN LCD panel...
