Monitor Repair Help on what this is......

I have had this monitor for a few years (Acer x223W) and yesterday I turned it on and the monitor would immediately go black after about a second or two but the time it is one it looks normal. I cannot see the display with a flash light and just so you know I know nothing about monitors so I am not exactly sure what I am looking at but I am pretty sure I found the problem.

The second picture is the set of wires that confused me. They are what I pulled out of the LCD panels where the corrosion was and they were plugged directly into the panel and look like they used to be covered in some type of sheathing. They were not necessarily plugged in put they went into the top of the lcd panel and were very crusty when I pulled them out.

Maybe I can take another pic if no one knows.

that is where the corrosion and electrical burning smell came from; and the monitor was not operating so i figured that was the problem and need to replace. The other reason is more of.....why not.
