Dear community,

I've checked a couple topics already about my issue but didn't seem the find the problem. But here I go... Two days ago my computer kept freezing while using the Firefox browser, I did some research and it seemed to have to do something with a bug in Firefox that makes my computer freeze. Well I did the necessary changes and it kept happening. I finally decided to re-install my computer from scratch. For right now, I installed everything and updated everything as well. I'm using Firefox again (never have problems with the same Firefox on my laptop) and ofcourse something happened again! It froze again. I clicked the reset button and my computer makes a long beep.. stops.. and restarts the system again normally.

I have cleaned out my computer quite a bit, so I don't think it's any overheating problems. Anybody else have any solutions? I had this computer for about 5 years!

These are the last errors in my even viewer:

What is the power supply that you are running? I'm not really experienced with event viewer and debugging and all, so I dont know how to help you.

Does it always happen during Firefox?

I have a OCZ 700watt power supply.

Well my computer always froze randomly with firefox, but it never made the long beep before til today. It never froze when firefox wasnt open. I'm guessing the only solution would be to use an older version of firefox or use google chrome? But I want to make sure it's not something else than firefox. Because it just happens randomly and not always after a certain time (while using firefox).

I just ran memtest and no errors were found (for people that needed this).

1 short: System boots successfully
2 short: CMOS setting error
1 long, 1 short: Memory or motherboard error
1 long, 2 short: Monitor or graphics card error
1 long, 3 short: Keyboard error
1 long, 9 short: BIOS ROM error
Continuous long beeps: Graphics card not inserted properly
Continuous short beeps: Power error

But the problem is... why does it never freeze when I play games? It only freezes when I'm using firefox. I'll have to wait to get it to happen again, I guess? And listen to the beep carefully :D

Maybe give Chrome a shot? Or you can reseat the graphics card. The beep is the continuous long one correct?

Yes, I don't think I heard anything else. PC freezes... I press the reset button for my pc to restart... pc beeps... stops... restarts the pc normal. Idk what reseat the graphics card means? Does that mean.. take it out and put it back in? :D

Does firefox even make error reports if something happens? Could I maybe check into that?

Ohhhhh.....I had that problem. Its an absolute monster. I dont think I was ever able to fix it. I dont know what I actually did to fix it.

Try the GPU in a friends computer if you can.

Try taking out a stick of RAM (any stick, or pair of sticks if you have 4)

Memtest didn't show any errors though.

I started using Google Chrome.. have yet to encounter a problem! It kept freeze (while using firefox) and restarting my computer without the beep included!

Google Chrome seems to be the answer :D
