Which cpu cooler for gaming rig?

Need to buy a new cooler for my amd fx6300. I use my computer for gaming so need something that will keep the temp down while playing high end stuff. Also plan on doing an overclock so something that could handle that aswell. Any suggestions would be great.

  1. It depends on your budget but for this class procesor (mid-range) I recommend mid range cooler - CM evo 212. It performs very nicely and you can OC it a lot. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103099
benchmarks vs one of the best water cooler, which cost a lot (100 dollars) - http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/923?vs=933

I would run a closed loop water-cooling system such as a corsair H series. You can choose one here, of course the higher the price, the better cooling you will get. Be sure you have a fan slot open for one of these, or two if necessary based on the cooler chosen. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100008008%2050001459&IsNodeId=1&name=Corsair
  3. The budget doesnt really matter too much, and also i have never even held a water-cooling system let alone fitted one, are they difficult to fit?

What I posted is a closed loop. 0 maintenance, besides blowing some compressed air like on any other cooler. It will not leak, you do not need to change the liquid ever, and it installs just as any air cooler would.
  5. Also i am using a zalman z11 case so itwould have to fit in that.
  6. What case and RAM do you have?
  7. +1 for the CM 212 of either kind, i was able to OC my 6300 up to 4.1 GHz without the temps budging with a Hyper 212+

Yes, you can even fit the double rad h100 into the top if you wanted to.

upon inspection the h100 will not fit regularly into that case. Here's an image of what you would need to do. All the other single rad models will fit no problem with a vry little difference in cooling though. http://sphotos-e.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/231184_10151285563291391_960287950_n.jpg
  10. So would i just be better off getting the corsair h90 single radiator for easier installation?

Yes, that will fit happily onto the back exhaust of your case and you can place the fan that was previously there onto the top for extra exhaust.
  12. Okay thats good to know, i just have one more question, will the h90 come shipped with everything i need to install it?

Yes, preapplied thermal compound, all the hardware for both amd and intel mounting, AMD is actually easier lucky you :) as well as a fan.
