I took a hard drive (undamaged) out of a crashed computer to try to recover the files and put them on a new computer. I hooked up this old drive with wiring that allowed me to plug it into a USB port of the new computer. The original partitions on this old drive were C: and D:. When I plug into the USB port of the new computer, it shows up as drive E: and gives me access to the files in the old C: partition. How do I access the files in the old D: partition?

Right click Computer then go to Manager. Click on Storage and then Disk Management.

You will see your hard drives listed here. Find the one you had attached (Probably the last hard drive in the list since its though USB. You will know because you will see the E: Drive partition. Now to the right of that E Drive partition there should be another partition (Your old D drive). If it has a drive letter it will list it. If it does not then right click in that box of that partition in the drop down menu you should see "Change drive letter and paths" or "Add drive letter". and give it a drive letter.

If it ask to format or says its RAW or something like that then we will have to use a program to recovery the files.
