Is 2gig of VRAM fine for gaming on a 2560x1440 monitor?

I keep getting conflicting words on whether or not 2gig of VRAM is fine for gaming at this resolution. Interested in getting a 2560x1440 monitor, but I am running a GTX680 with 2gig of VRAM. Is this enough for the time being?

Yes it is. I currently run 660 SLI on a 2560x1440 monitor and I have never had a problem on any games. You made need to turn down AA on very high end titles in the future though.

Well, it depends on the games and settings. As nikili707 mentioned, modding Skyrim will take it over 2GB in a hurry even at 1080p (I got it up to 2.7 GB on my 7970 at 1080p). And of course AA is the other thing. So if you're ok dropping settings back a little in graphically intense games, then you should be fine.

I honestly don't do much in the way of modding. Again, don't really plan on going with much AA after upping the resolution either. I guess I am not too worried. If need be, I will just sell my card and look into a 780 or something. At least then I'll have 3 to work with and a decent performance boost to boot. Was hoping to wait until the next wave of cards though. Hoping that will be the case.
