Doing my first build, so apologies for the stupid question!
I want to get 16 GB worth of RAM, Does it make any difference if I get a single 2x8 GB package or buy two single 8 GB kits? Does the double kit come with some sort of prior configuration in order to stack them together? Can I just plug in both the individually bought RAMs and expect them to work?

The reason I am asking is that buying two single kits seems to be cheapest method! So was just wondering...

Well the two are going to be literally identical, so why won't they work together 100% of the times?

Buying a set ensure's they were teste to work together, which is why price may be a bit higher, also if 1600 or higher freq, the XMP programming is done by the packaged set, with two separate sticks XMP won't work and they may have to be set up manually, both regular andpossible advanced timings

I see. So how complicated this manual set up will be?
The thing is, I want to buy the Crucial Tactical Tracer RAM with the LEDS and I want to have a color of each, instead of buying a double pack with the same color! Actually my mobo has 4 x DIMM so while I am currently going for 2x8GB, I might want to buy an additional two in the future. So learning how to stack RAM would certainly be of interest to me!

I have very little experience with the hardware, but there is always a place to start, right? Will there be like online manuals where I can follow through? Could you elaborate a little bit?
