hi, I have a pc with and

athlon II x3 425
ram 2gb

that is used for autocad architecure 2D basically and HD movies which is getting old (slow with win xp) and I was thinking in making an upgrade. I see three option here:

1. Buying a hole new for which I have the money.
2. Updating mine with ram and vga.
3 or buying and intermediate AMD apu A8 5600k selling what I have and only needing to buy the micro, mother and ram.

Both options 2 and 3 are equivalent in money: around USD 200 for the 3rd (selling mine) and USD 125 for the 2nd plus the VGA (note that a hd7770 would cost me USD190 and a hd6670 USD130 e.g.)

Which one do you think is the best option?

I was in your position a few months back, I had a dual core athlon and 2 gb ddr2, I went with the fm2, a8-5600k, 4gb of 1866mhz ddr3 and from xp to 7 64bit, the difference is unreal, I can even play games like dayz at low settings and just everything feels nicer. Its a joy switch on and my laptop now gathers dust...

The Athlon II runs good under windows 7. Id get some more ram (im assuming your running ddr3?) and a better gpu.

I have built Amd A8 and A10 systems and they are really nice and usable under windows 7. If you feel like you need an entire new build, the FM2 APUs will work nicely.

yeah, well, the idea was not to buy another micro just the vga and the ram, but thanks anyway! besides, the best I could get is an PII 980 for USD170. (this is argentina, not much stock)
