I have a Z77 board and an Intel CPU. I thought this is close enough to a mac to be able to run Mac OSX

Also, change to an ASUS or GIGABYTE motherboard as they usually have th best luck being supported.

Lol, I'm not that determined to get Mac, I just need it for iMessage and word processing and stuff. I'll have a Windows dual boot, and play my games on Windows.

To go osx86project.org and look through their components list for the hardware that will work with the least amount of hassle. I agree, the 7870 would be more difficult unless you know your way around a DSDT file.
