I'm looking to build a new PC in the coming months, but I've been relatively out of touch in the past 2 years or so regarding hardware. I'm looking to go i7 Haswell, but it appears my hardware decisions aren't as simple as they used to be.

Could someone please explain/expand upon some of the things I've been reading regarding Haswell Ready/Certified PSU's and Haswell Scaling Memory, etc... Anything else I need to know?

More about : upgrading haswell

You will need the processor , socket 1150 mb , and DDR3 memory rated for 1.5 volts or less .

Usually 1600 MHz memory will be fine

and you will need a new copy of Windows unless you have a retail version of 7 , Vista etc rather than the oem version

OK, good to know about the memory. What about the PSU? Is there any difference in the Haswell Ready and Haswell Certified labels that I've been seeing, or are those just marketing semantics used by different companies?

Marketing . Power supplies are built to the ATX standard not the haswell standard
