I have the oppurtunity to get the i5-4670k, Asus Z87-Pro, and 16gb Corsair Vengeance for a total of $460 before tax or $500 after tax. (I also already have a Samsung 840 Pro ssd if that matters) Should I buy now or wait for Haswell-E. I need a new computer, but not desperately... My current one is old and can't do the things I need, but I do have access to a work computer.

From what I understand, Haswell-E will come out q2 of next year so that's almost 6 months away (if it's not delayed). Is the update significantly better than the current Haswell chips? I know it will support ddr4 and have up to eight cores.

I think my deal looks pretty good, a similar one made it to the front page of slickdeals a little while ago, but if the update is a big jump then I suppose I can wait. There is also the possibility/likelyhood that ram will become cheap again later. On the other hand, I don't really want to wait a half year for something that will be marginally better and most definitely more expensive overall.

One last thing, what are your thoughts on my deal compared to possible black friday deals?

Any feedback would help. Thanks.

I think you should go for it. In the world of computers there is always something around the corner. We ll never a buy a technology product if we wait for something better because there will be always something better in the future. I think it is an awesome deal, go for it
