I've been lurking around and learning different things. Here's what I've got for my first gaming build:

CPU - Intel Core i7-3770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core
Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H ATX LGA1155
Memory - G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866
Storage - Toshiba Q Series 256GB 2.5" SSD
Toshib - 3TB 3.5" 7200RPM
Video Card - Gigabyte Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition 3GB
Case - Fractal Design Define R4 w/Window (Black Pearl) ATX Mid Tower
Power Supply - SeaSonic 650W ATX12V / EPS12V
Monitor - Asus VX238H 23.0"

Questions I have:

  • Mobo - I'm going on a trip next week to and I'm planning on taking advantage of the Micro Center in the area and their intel/mobo deal. I will be taking a risk if the parts end up failing on me since I live 8 hours away from this Micro Center, so I'm not sure if it's still worth it. I am also unsure if the mobo I chose was the best of the four (Gigabyte UD3H).
Graphics card - I am still very unfamiliar with graphic cards, specifically because I don't know what I want from it besides being able to play games like Bioshock: Infinite on high settings. I've been gaming exclusively on consoles so my PS3 is the only point of reference I have. The card I've chosen is just a placeholder as the max I will pay for a graphics card. I've read that I should wait until after next Tuesday to buy it, which is fine with me - I can use the integrated graphics in the meantime; however, I still don't know what card would be best for my purposes.
Compatibility/fit - According to PC Partpicker, everything fits, but I want to make sure
Price - My biggest regret is buying the power supply on Monday, specifically with the CX750M deal currently on Newegg. I'm hoping I can return it to Newegg and buy the CS750M. I also preemptively bought the storage and case so those are stuck with me. If you see anywhere I can save some money, I would love to hear it!

Thanks for the help. Any other feedback is welcome!

For gaming you dont get any benefit from an i7

Use a Haswell i5 instead and save . Match it with a socket 1150 mb with a Z87 chip set

AMD are about to refresh their graphics card line up in just a couple of weeks . Hold off till then and see what is avaialble at what price
