Hi guys,

I have a problem that I can not solve.. I hope you guys can help me further :)

I want to run 2 Asus GTX 770 graphic cards in SLI on a z77mx-d3h motherboard. This motherboard has 3 slots (16X, 8X and 4X). Direct link motherboard: Click here

The problem: the system does not detect the second GPU in the 8X slot.

What I have done:

  • * Tested both of the GPU's in the 16X slot. Both are working in the 16X slot.
  • * In the 4X slot the second GPU is detected, but this is not a solution at all since the air can go nowhere due to the size of the GPU
  • * Tested with and without the SLI bridge
  • * Updated the BIOS too version f15 and after that f16 (beta), both no results

As last a picture of the set-up:

I hope that one of you guys can help me solve this problem! Thanks in advance :)

Thanks a lot for your answer and you are right. Only the problem is that the motherboard won't detect the graphic card in the 8X slot.

As adding to my opening post: there are 2 versions of this motherboard, I have rev. 1.0

Thanks again for your quick reply :)

PSU: XFX PRO 850W

1 card in X16, works
1 card in X4, works
1 card in X16 and 1 card in X4 combined: works (but not in SLI, that is only X16 combined with X8 slot)

Both cards do not work in X8

Thanks again!

I found an online manual: Click here, page 19.

As for the SLI bridge, tried both. But I think that should not matter..

Bios: I have tried a lot of different settings, all without result

While I have no solution for you either that is the same exact reason I had to RMA my Gigabyte motherboard and ended up getting my Asus Z77 Sabertooth. No matter what I did I could not get SLI to work. On my board it was suppost to be the first and third slots but no matter what on the Gigabyte the second card would not get detected. Got the Asus board and never looked back. Funny thing is I am using 2 Gigabyte GTX 670's and as far as the GPU's they are great thank goodness.

I hope that I have just missed something to save me from the RMA hassle haha.. I will keep the Asus z77 in mind :)

Thanks for your reply!
