OS: Windows 7 Ultimate SP2 (x64)
CASE: Antec 900
FAN: Zaleman 9700 (110mm)
MOBO: Asus Crosshair 590 (AM2)
BIOS: 1402 Ginie Mod V3 [BETA - CUSTOM]
CPU: Phenom II X4 940 BE (AM2+) [3.0 Ghz] [OVER CLOCKED: 3.801 Ghz]
RAM: OCZ PC2 6400 (4 x 2GB) [800 Mhz] [OVER CLOCKED: 944 Mhz]
GPU: TWO x PNY 8600 GTS OC (SLI) [715 Mhz] [OVER CLOCKED: 750 Mhz]
GPU: TWO x EVGA 8800 ULTRA [NOT POSTING !!!]
HDD: WD VelociRaptor 10,000 RPM (1TB)
SSD: Neutron Series GTX (480GB)

What's the fastest most powerfull nVidia card my motherboard and processor can handle before one or both bottlenecks the GPU.

Thanks,
Jake

Pics and full specs? You could overclock the Phenom II 940 with a Hyper 212 EVO and be able to go up to a 670 with no real bottleneck.
Edit, it is running with PCI-E 1.0, you might want to upgrade to a 8320 and Sabertooth 990FX R2.

The only issue is really his Mobo, he is running PCI-E 1.0 with a 940 BE, which can't go past AM2+.
Edit for about $250, he can get a nice upgrade.

if he's at pcie 1.0, he should at least do the board, but the cpu can last a little longer...get a decent AM3+ board with at least 2.0 and a 760 and you're good to go...though at probably $350ish

Edit: and you'll need ram, call it $400

The 940 won't go into a AM3 board, you will destroy it in the process and they are electrically incompatible.

My board is an AM2 my processor is an AM2+ but I have a special BIOS created by a guy in Germany. My board is PCIe x16 but I heard the PCIe slots are backward compatible.

So if its PCIe x16 can I use: PCIe x16 1.0, or 2.0, or 3.0 or all?

What is the best nVidia GPU my CPU and mobo can handle?

I've heard no higher than GTX 670 and i've heard GXT 760. Which one?
Money isn't an issue. The video card is. I don't want to change or upgrade anything BUT the GPU.
How do I know what my limit is? Can anyone explain to me how they are certian of the answer the are giving me so I LEARN why.

I don't want just the answer I want to learn why as well.
Thanks everyone y'all are a big help!

670, the issue is that your 1.0 might bottleneck the GTX 670.
