I'm currently trying to setup a PPTP VPN so I can access my shared folders (already each mapped) from home, on my laptop while I'm out of the LAN.
Both places are behind an ASUS N56U router, and both computers are ran on Windows 8.
I have access to both routers, and am an admin on both computers. I've setup the connection and am able to connect to my home network.
I am able to access my router's backend, and even use the internet from it via the VPN, but I am not able to connect nor find my local computer with the networked files on it.
I've already tried turning off all firewalls between the two computers, have broadcast enabled 2way on both routers, and have even updated both computers with KB2797356 to fix the "limited access" error. I've tried the URL and WAN IP for the connection, nothing. All NAT passthroughs are enabled, VPN is enabled and seems to work just not completely.
One thing I've noticed is that the local IP that I see under status when connecting isn't the same as I know my computer is. But neither IP produces any results anyways.
What am I missing?
