Hi guys, so I'm trying to come up with my first PC build at the moment, as the laptop I'm currently running things out of is beginning to show its age. My initial build was this:

But now I've decided to try and get a 144Hz monitor, as apparently they are worth every penny and won't need to be upgraded in the near future. And so I came up with this build:

All I essentially did was downgrade the CPU and motherboard, though this build still costs a fair chunk more than the original. What build do you guys reckon I should go with? I have ~$1500 to work with so what build will give me best performance? (I need a new monitor and keyboard). I will be buying from Australia and the build will be used for gaming. Thanks :)

Well, funny you should ask because Tom's Hardware has a brand-new article that may be of interest to you:

From what I understand, the ASUS vg24qe is a great buy in the US, and the BenQ XL2420TE is a better buy in Europe. I do not know how Australia stacks up, but that ASUS is $200 more than in the US.
