i5 vs i7? Is it truly needed or "required"?

When I have my new high end gaming/editing/rendering build up and running, I plan on doing A LOT of 3D rendering. Is the i7 truly needed for this or will an i5 do the job? The only reason I'm asking this is because I've already pushed my budget quite a bit (started with a $1500 budget and now I may and probably will go with a high end nVidia card like the 780 and the i7 4770k making it approx. $1900-2000 depending on price flux.). Here's my build for reference. Since in the past I've noticed many don't take the purchased part of the list seriously since I purchased the parts for an even price, I PURCHASED THE PARTS FOR AN EVEN PRICE. ALL THINGS MARKED PURCHASED ARE ****ING PURCHASED!!! Sorry if I offended anyone, but I felt the need to emphasize this due to other peoples ignorance.

Solution
I would highly recommend the I7 4770K. It is 10% to 30% faster in rendering etc. The same performance as the 4670K for gaming. You may want to purchase another 16GB of ram at a later time due to the demands of 3D rendering. Overall, nice.
