I'll get straight to the point. I'm having a hard time using MSI afterburner to overclock my GPU. . I've tried unlocking the cfg with the EULA and changing the number but I think that's only for ATI gpus.

My default core clock and memory clock are: 967mhz and 900 mhz respectively. When I try to overclock the memory clock it works fine, but when I try to overclock the core it just resets back to 0. If I just put the dialer to max manually for the core clock (instead of just typing in 100) and put it up to 100, once I click apply it changes to 435 and then LIMITS my core clock to 435. It's also weird because the dialer doesn't allow me to go below either, it just goes from 0-100 (but changes to 435 when i click apply.

Also for some reason it shows my gpu but the driver version is empty... don't know if that's somehow related. (im running the latest non-beta nvidia drivers)

any help? I've seen a lot of success stories with this graphics card so I know for sure it can be done.
I've also tried EVGA Precision X (same issue)

my cpu is an i5-4200U (haswell) and gfx is gt750m.

this is my laptop:

thanks for your time.

EDIT:

After some tinkering I managed to get it working but I think something else is wrong.. the MSI Hardware Monitor on the side of the afterburner shows my max is still 967 but GPU-Z shows that it overclocked (running +100, +300) fine. HOWEVER, both logs (GPU-Z and AB) show that my clock and memory speed are being maxxed out at 405... and when I run final fantasy xiv i have about half the fps i had when I was running a normal setup..

also the overclocking only actually worked when i ran ffxiv.. could it be because of nvidia optimus?

ps sorry if this is in the wrong forum. if it is please direct me. thanks.

Solution
I would not really recommend overclocking the 750m, or any mobile processor for that matter. The clock speed might be locked. It would generate too much heat anyways.

i cant give you an answer for this... sorry :( but, i have 2 questions (i was thinking to buy this laptop aswell...) what are your impressions about the 4200u and the 750m? how well they perform in games? (i am curious about Starcraft 2 if you play it) :D
