Best harddrive buy for photo editing and general storage

My SSD's are showing to be to small after i have gotten into more serious photographing. So im looking to buy a 3 or 4TB disk to use to store the pictures and other stuff.

When im working with the pictures i dont want to move them to another disk.

I want something stable, not noisy (currently I can hardly hear if my pc is on or not), and i would prefere not to compromise on the speed.

What would be the buy.
Currently i have been looking on the WD Black series.

  1. Suggestions:
Usually I would say the black series is a waste of money if there isn't extremely heavy data (streaming) involved, however being that it is over 2 Terabytes (I only trust Seagate up to 2 Terabytes), i would fully recommend the Western Digital Black series for any HDD that is needed with a capacity of 2+ Terabytes:

    Option #1 (4 Terabyte HDD):
PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

Storage: Western Digital WD Black 4TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($264.98 @ SuperBiiz)
    Total: $264.98
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

    Option #2 (3 Terabyte HDD):
PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

    Storage: Western Digital 3TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($204.48 @ SuperBiiz)
    Total: $204.48

These are my recommendations, also one more recommendation is if you are going to be editing (and I am assuming that these pictures are irreplaceable), I will recommend one more following item to you:

Western Digital My Book 3 Terabyte External Backup Drive (Option #3):

(Amazon Link, I don't like long links)

I would recommend this drive to back up your pictures stored on your internal drive as well...that way the chances of them both going out at the same time is well very rare. This particular external hard drive (and the main reason I chose it over any other external hard drive) is since you do serious photograph editing, every change you make to a file that is backed up on this external hard drive (from your internal hard drive) it is instantly backed up on the external...So if you have all your pictures on the internal and edit one on the internal and save it, then it immediately gets backed up onto the external silently in the background.

    Conclusion:

I think one of those 2 hard drives listed above and the external i listed would be a very secure way to make sure you never loose any photographs...you can never be to careful..
