Major FPS Lag on Games GT 540M

Lately, I'm experiencing a lot of FPS lag on my games. It was OK, it even rocks BF3, but now it lags on only TF2, which is extremely annoying. I tried on CS:GO and also other games, still lags.

My laptop is ASUS A43S

My specs:
-Intel Core i3 2310M @ 2.10GHz Sandy Bridge
-nVidia GeForce GT 540M 1 GB
-6 GB RAM DDR3
-1366x768p monitor

Any helps will be much appreciated :)

is it Gt 520m or gt 540m? in your title, it says gt (drop the x, gtx is reserved for 560 and above) 520m, but in the your provided specs, it writes 540m. But either one of them is not ideal for gaming. generally speaking, battlefield 3 is a more graphic intense than TF2 or CS go. so if you are able to play BF 3 even at the lowest setting, you should not experience lag in either of these games.

As a general rule, lowering the resolution and turning off any type of antialiasing can boost your frame rate by a lot. so you may want to try that.

Well, just assuming,
If my laptop really is heating up too much (Which I'm afraid it already is), is there any way to fix it?
And also, is it temporary or permanent?




My laptop is nVidia GeForce 540M, I was in a rush and i mistyped xD
And I'm pretty sure I did lower the graphics, and it didn't work.

Well, I guess I found out the solution. I had to restart my laptop after the initial boot of my laptop, and poof the lag is gone. I don't know why, it's a bit weird xD.
