I was afraid of the same thing. I resisted LCDs for a long time. But then I got my ex an LCD and used it a bit myself. I now have three 25+" LCDs on my desk. Stick to the 5ms or better monitors and you should be fine.

LCD colour transition timing is a function of the technology. There's no way to get rid of it completely, but good panels are designed in such a way that it's essentially unnoticeable.

I thought you were looking for a monitor? You already have one? What monitor and system do you have?

The marketed response time of the monitor is a pretty worthless metric. Manufacturers love to change the definition to make their own numbers look better. Without consistency, it's not reliable.

Good displays compensate for the blur by using an image processor. Many graphics cards also have LCD compensation tools if the display's own internal compensator is not sufficient.

I have a 30 inch LCD with a 7ms gray-to-gray marketed response time that I wouldn't trade in for anything.

I think you are thinking of contrast ratios. Those are nearly completely useless now. Response time is still for the most part correct. There is the matter of g2g vs b2b, but as I said above most of us are fine with 5ms or better. I question whether he is really seeing ghosting or something else. Try a 2ms monitor. But I suspect something else is going on.

What's the make and model of your display?

There is the option of LCD 120hz with Lightboost monitors. These monitors behave much more similarly to CRT's than other monitors. They basically change the color during a low light phase, then pulses the backlighting bright after the monitor changes the color on the monitor.

This results in very crisp images:

The downside is that these are TN panels with poorer color than other panel types.

Ah, you have a cheap 3D monitor....

Quote:
The bad: The D2342P's 3D performance in games includes plenty of ghosting and the 3D lacks depth in movies and games

Get either a good 3D monitor, or a 5ms or better 2D one.
