hii i have a hard disk but it has a media problem and mechanical olso can the data recovered ??the enginer is sayin that i cant b recovered its impossilbe he dint open the hard disk pls help me thanx i wanted to knoe the data can b recovered or nt??? thanx its of destop nd windows 7 is ws the soft i dnt knoe y it hapnd pls help me

I would recommend you stop playing with it if it is that important to you becuase the more you play with it the more you may detroy and cause it to not be recovered.

If it is a mechanical issue with the drive they will have to "clean room it". Which means they have to take the platters out of your drive and put them in one that does work in a very clean environment. When I use to deal with drives like this the cost generally went from $300 for a standard recovery to about $1200 for a clean room one. However, I have also had bills for over $3000 as it simply depends on the failure and recovery.

If your disk has mechanical and or software defects and can not be seen by windows as an active drive you are in a bind. There are companies that may be able to retrieve your data but it is a very expensive service. You can find them on line under disk data recovery. If you can see the disk in windows and have another disk installed and working there is software that may be able to rescue your data. The big IF is what is the mechanical defect? It sounds like you may be looking at a total loss of data.
