Hi,

I just bought an i5 4670k, Asus z87-k and 8gb of corsair vengeance black to replace aging counterparts.

I'm a bit of a noob with this stuff, but I want to know if there's a way to batch check (or similar) the CPU before I unbox it. The box lists it being SR14A and batch L315B659 (Malay).

As an aside, are there any recommendations or reminders for when I go to install these parts? Should I do a fresh OS install etc?

Thanks.

You'd be surprised at how many people come here with questions that Google would have answered in much less time than it takes to post and wait. And no problem.

Still, I found some answers on Google:

^This suggests that cherry-picking is a thing of the past.

^If this is true, and if it carries over to Haswell, then this is what you're looking for.
