How's your CPU doing in BF4

I've been wondering how different processors are holding up considering it's said to be one of the first games to utilize more than 4 cores, how is it performing for you guys?

Solution
on my cpu, clocked at 4ghz, cpu usage is between 85-95% averaged across 4 cores. It is able to keep fairly smooth performance through the game (60fps with vsync on most of the time), although im sure the finished game and more driver tuning will iron out the few stutters and things encountered.

heres a good bench, the 8350or 2600k looks like its utilized 67% on average so 8 threads aren't fully utilized by the game. the 6300 is more or less maxed out on all cores though. the 3970x show 7 threads used out of a possible 12, but shows a significant performance increase over the other cpu's, so the game is somewhat cpu bound, at least the beta is

That's about what I'm getting as well. I usually leave it on high so I stay around 45-60 though. The game still isn't optimized right yet though too so that's why our 7970s aren't doing as well as they should

I would say so, being a beta it should definitely get better upon release. The poor optimization was probably the reason for the use of a 7990 in the alpha videos lol. Im happy with the performance im getting as for me at least 35+fps is playable and at the moment any higher would be pointless as most of my lag comes from the servers itself lol

I find even at 1080p i'm able to run it at a constant 50-60fps but every 15 seconds it just stops for a second like the server is glitching then by the time its back to smooth im either dead or at least close to it, they posted a msg saying the lag is because of Punkbuster

Fx-6300 and gtx 760, obvious cpu bottlenecking I had to disable half of the cores though to get a playable framerate on it. Hopefully dice patches that bug soon

Doesnt sound good, i thought the FX wouldnt have issues, I found a fix for mine just go into task mangr and end task pnkbstr.exe. That got rid of alot of my problems anyway then reset your internet. For anyone having freezing that fixed mine. Its generally 60fps now and i gotta say im really impressed with it. Might even buy it

Yeah, unfortunately, programs like that exist because there are some who would abuse the "honor system". While the intent of programs like punkbuster is good, the programs themselves can be a bit of a bear to implement, and I am sure they'll eventually get the bugs worked out of it.

Did you try updating your GPU drivers to the beta ones?

Radeon: http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/AMDCatalyst13-10WINBetaDriver.aspx

Nvidia Geforce: http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/articles/nvidia-geforce-331-40-beta-drivers-released

Anyway, my CPU is bottlenecking my GPU. I am not even kidding. I know this game is not optimized, and that gives me some hope. But my Phenom ii x6 1045t runs Battlefield 3 on ultra (64 man servers) just fine. But on this, I can change my video settings and the FPS stays the same. So I know that I need to get a new CPU. Which I expected to happen anyway. I plan to get either an I7 4770k (or 3770k) or an I5. And if I am cheap I will get an AMD 8350

The benchmarks say BF4 will run on 7 heavy threads, I would look heavily at the 8350 or i7s. (The 8350 OC'ed to 4.7 GHz actually performs on par with the 3930k)

I am doing okay I think.

3770k at 4.6ghz
hd 7950 at 960/1375

was getting around 50-60% load on CPU and constant 60+ fps highest of 82 on ultra settings.

This seems higher than others with similar specs, no idea why! Using fraps to see framerates.

Do you have your resolution or resolution scale slider turned down? There is no way you should be getting those framerates at that setting!

i5-4570 with 7950 on ultra (full AA and everything) at 1080p, 64 player servers (with 60+ people). I'm getting about 50-60fps on average. Even with a ton of action going on and the sky scraper falling, it rarely drops below 45.

CPU usage fluctuates between 80-95% and that's with a few other programs running at the same time.

Game runs butter smooth for me. Haven't had any issues yet...
