Hello

I have ASUS P6t motherborad: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P6T/

I installed Asus U3S6 card (asus says provides a slot SATA3 PCIe4x REAL): http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/U3S6/

Here is a review:http://ntsblog.homedev.com.au/index.php/2012/02/23/asus-u3s6-review-benchmark-sata-3-add-on-card-sata-ii-onboard/

I updated firmware Samsung 840 Pro 256GB SSD with Samsung Magician. The main drive I use it to boot Windows

I installed the latest drivers from ASUS:http://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=U3S6&os=30"]http://support.asus.com/download.asp...n&m=U3S6&os=30

I connect U3S6 in PCIe4x slot (not the 16x which is the VGA) and Samsung 840 Pro 256GB SDD on U3S6

I have enabled AHCI in the BIOS

HE SSD optimized using this guide: http://www.thessdreview.com/ssd-guides/optimization-guides/the-ssd-optimization-guide-ultimate-windows-8-edition/

This is my speed tests:
as-ssd-bench%20Samsung%20SSD%20840%20%2029.09.2013%2018-29-24.png

far away from reading and writing 520MB supose speed...
Anyone know how to fix it?

These are the native SATAII speeds on my motherboard
as-ssd-bench%20Samsung%20SSD%20840%20%2030.09.2013%2020-00-11_SATA2.png

Writte speed is 50-60 MB more but the read speed is 90 MB less
Is better more Speed Reading?

the 4k-64 tb improves overall ... i don't know how improtant can be

And the best question... know any PCIe card that offers 500Mb read/writte?

Thanks

You should connect the SSD into the MB intel SATAII ports ( you have to install the intel driver, not the microsoft driver), then you will get better performance.
The add on card is the pciex4, you have to use the pcieX8 to get the same performance.

Ok i Try. The storage options are:

Built-in Controller : *1
6 x SATA 3Gb/s port(s), red

JMicron® JMB363 controller :1 x eSATA 3Gb/s port(s), red

JMicron® JMB322 controller :
1 x SATA 3Gb/s port(s), orange
1 x SATA 3Gb/s port(s), white

Where i should connect?....

Yes i install the last Intel driver ...i think..from here: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=21854&lang=eng&wapkw=11.2.0.1006

"The add on card is the pciex4, you have to use the pcieX8 to get the same performance"..... ??? i don't understand

I check the manual (page2-2) you should connect the SSD into the SATA1 or SATA2 ( those use intel AHCI controller driver), not the SATAE1 or 2 those are use JMicron SATA controller.

I found other Forum ( it is old) from AnandTech, you can see the results.

Also I found out the add-on card, which use the marvell controller too, and it does not act like the SATAIII performance. But you maybe get better performance after update the driver or firmware, because there are a lot Q/A about marvell sata controller vs intel sata controller online.

I think your U3S6 ha the Marvell 88SE9128/9120/9125 but the firmware from link is for Marvell 9123 version, when you open the read me. So Double check your U3S6 has which the Marvell controller.
Usually I only download the drivers, firmware, and drivers from the PC or manufacturer website. I check the Marvell and ASUS I don't find any firmware, but only the SATA driver from ASUS, try it (V1.0.0.1036).
