So I just woke up, switched on my pc to a weird suprise. All My shortcuts (desktop and taskbar) have disappeared. All files on my desktop, documents folder and downloads folder have apparently deleted themselves and my background reset back to a default windows pic. Everything else is exactly as I left it last night. AVG detects no virus so unless im sleepwalking and half formating my HD i dunno what is up. Anyone have any idea?

sounds like you have a temp profile, this happens some times. reboot should take care of it, and you can validate my theory by right clicking on the start menu and choose "open windows explorer" > a box will open> local drive c (under the livraries section on the left) > click users > and you should see a list of users and one will be named "TEMP" with a date modified of today
yea, it turned out to be a corrupted profile. I googled for similar problems and found a nice fix on microsoft support forums. Just a few registry edit changes and back to normal. Learn something new every day. thanks for the reply randini
