I have two computers: my main one and my old one. I don't use the old one anymore, so I restored for my brother. I successfully re-installed the OS and was ready to install drivers. I found, downloaded, and installed the motherboard chipset drivers. After I restarted the computer to complete the installation, the computer completely turned off. I pressed the power button and it lights up, but no fans are running-case fans, heat sink fan, and power supply are all dead. I removed the CMOS battery and re-seated my memory, still no luck.

Any suggestions?

It's not necessarily a sign that the PSU works, no. Try with that other PSU - that's easier to replace than the MB too!

If my power on button lights up, does that mean my power supply is okay? If not, I do have an extra power supply lying around and I can try to hook that up.

Thanks! I will swap it out today and get back to this thread tonight to let you know if it worked or not.
