Hey, I'm in the process of looking at parts for a friends rig I'm building, and he is a budding video editor. The parts im looking at are...

MOBO - MSI 970A-G43
RAM - Patriot Intel Extreme Master, Limited Ed 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
CPU COOLER - CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO

I realise that if i put the RAM in slots 2 and 4 there will be no clearance issues with the 212, but i got 2x8 sticks to leave the possibility of upgrading open. Does anyone know if there will be clearance issues with the 212 and a stick of RAM in slot 1 of this motherboard?

That RAM is 41mm tall, compared to the 40mm G.Skill Ripjaws X, which I do believe that cooler solution has clearance issues with, means that you probably will have some issues as well. You can move the fan up on the heatsink, to compensate, but you may have some cooling inefficiencies.

G.Skill Ares, or Corsair Vengeance LP are some good, compatible, alternatives.

EDIT: Fixed clarity.

Thanks guys, the only reason I was buying this ram was because it was the cheapest 16gb, 2 module set I can buy, and it has a CA's latency of 9 and it's 1600mhz, so the fact they have heat spreaders is a bit of a bummer. Oh well, more LP Ram it is!
