The 7970 can beat a GTX 770 in some games/benchmarks and it's almost £100 than a GTX 770 so the 7970 if the better card atm.

7970 beats out the 760 (title) and the 770; the 7970GE especially.
However, it is wisest to wait the few weeks for the new models to come out. By then the Nvidia prices will change and the reviews of the R8/R9 models will be made.
