dvd writers question

just upgraded to w7 ,previous pc had one dvd writer and one dvd rom ,my latest pc has two dvd writers,so can I use one as a dvd rom and if so how

A dvd writer can do both reading and writing on dvd media (though only certain discs allow writing). A dvd rom drive just means it can't do the writing. You don't need to do anything special to read a dvd-rom disc in a dvd-writer drive.
