Since you don't usually install them, you are a good candidate for a repair install. Grab the latest image of the same version that you run from
HERE and burn to a DVD or make an install USB using the tool
HERE. Then backup key data just in case, and do a repair installation that *should* (always has for me on dozens of machines, but you never know) be able to do a repair installation that will not affect your programs or data. Take a look
HERE for a good tutorial.
Then you will be able to do all the Windows updates to get you up to date.
