So I have a little dilemma with Battlefield 4. My brother and I both got the beta today.
His specs:
Amd Quad-Core 2.9GHz
6GB ram
AMD Radeon HD 6990
7200 RPM drive

My specs
AMD Six-Core 3.5GHz
8GB ram
AMD Radeon HD 7850
7200 RPM drive

For some reason, although his specs are significantly worse, his graphics are much better than mine.:kaola: I get very little detail, bad colors, and some pretty bad lag. On the other hand, his has beautiful graphics and very little lag! Why is this?:??: I'm really annoyed because I updated some of my hardware for the new games! I have all of the newest drivers, and we have identical monitors. HELP PLEASE!

The CPU is not the factor here, the GPU is.. Do you even know how much a 6990 better than a 7850? The 6990 is a dual GPU card with 2 6970s in it. It's absolutely foolish to compare a 6990 with a 7850..

performance is only half the issue here, he is saying the graphics dont look as good, the image quality the 7850 produces should be equal to the 6990, but yes, performance is about half (arguably so as dual gpu cards dont always output frames smoothly to the monitor)

He mentioned having pretty bad lag. Sometimes when it lags you tend to lose the aesthetics of the gaming graphics. The pictures are somewhat distorted like using a VGA camera to shoot a video. I think that's what he is referring to. And the 6990 is known to have no problems like the 7990...

The video settings in the game are by default set to Auto. Meaning the game decides what settings the graphics should be at. The 6990 is way better than the 7850 so the game is giving your brother better quality settings automatically.

You can manually adjust your settings to ultra and it will look just as good, but the game will be unplayable because of the lag.

Had the same problem but with my gtx 760, no matter what settings i put BF4 i got shitty textures and low frames. I can now run at ultra settings everything maxed at 60 fps and all i had to do was update to the latest beta drivers. Hope that helps

I think he must be running the game in ultra coz the 7850 is not that bad a card that it can't handle BF4 at medium or low settings. At ultra he would get around 20-30 fps which is when the lag just sets in. That's been happening, I guess...

Guys, the Battlefield 4 beta IS NOT yet tweaked for AMD cards, as it was built using nVidia cards. The beta has several graphical issues, as well as latency issues causing problems. Not to mention that the graphics in the beta are not final to the release of the game they are dumbed down. My 7950 has stutter issues even when running on medium settings. Wait for the final version to come out AND DO NOT waste your time OR money trying to figure out why BF4 is running like crap on your PC.

it was built using nvidia cards? where is your source for that info? there are plenty of people playing ok on AMD cards, the stuttering is due to server lag, and not having all the correct c+ and directx libraries installed/updated (which are in the game directory but not installed by default), or drivers needing clean install and there are plenty of other fixes for the stuttering on various systems if you know how to use google.

It only states that BF4 is OPTIMIZED for AMD cards, which means that AMD gets the code earlier in order to build better drivers. nVidia will get the code AFTER BF4 has been released. It in know way indicates that the game was coded on AMD cards, and considering nVidia is pretty much standard for workstation graphics cards one can only assume it was developed on nVidia cards, and tested on AMD.

That was a pathetic answer from one Nvidia freak !! Sorry, you have gone nuts dude!!

dice have stated that there are and were issues with all configurations because its not actually the release version of the game.... the beta was released to test the server backend and server stability under load.
the beta should have no bearing on the finished product as far as game-play and image quality goes. i honestly couldnt tell the difference between high quality and medium quality other than an fps drop. i personally had very little in the way of stutter but i was getting pauses just as i would twitch to a target, more often then not resulting in me dying.
my advice would be to wait for the finished product and while your waiting update to the latest beta drivers.

oh and if you card has 1 gig of ram then forget about high and ultra settings. most of the extra memory on higher end cards is gonna be used for draw distance which is where ultra is supposedly gonna set itself apart from the medium and basic settings...

Well, I recommend you not to try ps3 and 360, also you heave to put you're settings more up or just buy a graphics card. Or try it on PC without any virus and full un-laggy systems and requirements. But in my opinion bf4 graphics are just bad in a way. Too robotic and animated/generic. But let's not go too far with this off-topicness.
If this doesn't work, than you heave to download PC good performence.

We'll, I highly recommend you a graphics stick or just put the settings on maximum. If not, just download anti virus program and good system requirements. In my opinion cod ghosts has better graphics, bf is too animatics robotic/generic.
