Hi, I want to upgrade my current ram 2 x 2GB to 2 x 4GB on a Toshiba Satellite L645D-S4036.

According to Crucial's website my current ram specs for 8GB are:

Module Size: 8GB Kit (4GBx2)
Package: 204-pin SODIMM
Feature: DDR3 PC3-10600
Specs: DDR3 PC3-10600 • CL=9 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR3-1333 • 1.35V • 512Meg x 64 •

I found a deal on ebay but some specs are different, will they still work? Any noticeable difference between the two?

Type
: DDR3 SODIMM
Capacity : 2 x4GB
Speed
: DDR3 1066Mhz PC3-8500
Environment : Laptop / Notebook
Pins : 204Pin
ECC/Registered
Voltage
Density
Chip Configuration
: No/No
: 1.5V
: Low Density
:256x8/16chips

The specs from eBay say
ECC/Registered

Crucial says your laptop needs Unbuffered, Non-ECC memory, which is the opposite.

The ones from eBay likely will not work in your laptop.

No the eBay quoted RAM kit isn't having any ECC issue.

I see the spec on eBay listing as follows:

Specifications
Type: DDR3 SODIMM
Capacity : 2 x4GB
Speed: DDR3 1066Mhz PC3-8500
Environment : Laptop / Notebook
Pins : 204Pin
ECC/Registered: No/No
Voltage: : 1.5V

You can go with the RAM, but look for some better deal on Crucial, GSkill etc.

I said already. Read properly the eBay Spec. There is no ECC issue.

I don't know where the user(who said about ECC issue) saw an ECC issue on the eBay listed RAM kit.

Why did you say I should get a better deal with crucial or gskill? Is there something intrinsically wrong with this memory?

Thanks!

Took your advice and ended up buying the same samsung memory that came with my system, which also matches with the same specs that the recommended crucial memory has.

I just asked you to check whether any better price is available from Crucial or GSkill or not.

Sometime, you get better price with more reliability in some official vendors than ebay.
