Hey guys,
I've run into a dilemma with my PC and I'm on my last leg trying to solve the problem before I just start putting more new parts in. I'm going to try and go into as much background and train of thought as I can to help define the problem but I'm rather hardware illiterate so I'll do my best.
Okay, so the PC was built from scratch a few years ago (Aug 2011), dropped around $800 on it and had an IT buddy put it together for me (quite vague, I know).
CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1100T
Motherboard: ASUS M4A87TD EVO
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws DDR3 3x2GB sticks (in slots 1,3, and 4 of the motherboard)
Graphics: Radeon HD 6850
Windows 7 64-Bit Edition
More information can be provided, I was quickly just referencing the CPU-Z readout.
On to a little more about the situation, my PC used to run into blue screens at a frustrating rate (2-3x/week). I figured the issue wasn't heat related, I always monitored my internal temps/cooling very regularly, and often felt the machine and kept the fans/exhaust ports clean (still do). After talking it over with some friends, we just figured maybe the HDD was poor (1TB Western Digital). It wasn't much of a burden, so I picked up a 128GB SSD recently, for Windows and my often run programs. Did a clean install of Windows 7, got everything up to working order, and ran a mem test on my computer. Clean.
Except now instead of blue screening, the PC will just hard lock. The screens will glitch and a low humming noise will come out of the speakers with no interface/interaction until I reset. After scavenging around for more information, the next (cheapest) step seemed to be to reset my heatsink. No dice, problem persists.
After looking around, I've seen threads about having potential timing errors between the RAM and motherboard and even possible compatibility errors between these brands/manufacturers. So that's where we come to now, I'm not sure what timing sync I'm supposed to have and on that note, if it is incorrect, how to modify it so the PC runs smoother. If that's not the issue, I would just like to know where I go from here.
I don't push this thing hard at all. It's not overclocked, and the most I ever ask out of it is a skype call, firefox, and a (non-taxing) game running simultaneously. No streaming, no top of the line graphics, nothing super exhaustive.
I've attached a link for the .txt readout from CPU-Z that I have, I didn't want to just paste it as that seemed lengthy/unnecessary
https://mega.co.nz/#!9wdHCDRD!Rp-l11e2M2Rstpl4VkKfgGk2i_xfQk0ZCS-NmALmMog
Thanks in advance to any help I can get, I'm open to all opinions at this point,
Dan
