I have a blank hard drive with os on it because I'm building a new pc. My school also offers free downloads of windows, so i want to somehow get the the os on my blank hard drive via download. How would I do this? Could I boot it up on a simple 8gb flash drive or would i need something bigger?

Solution
If the download comes as an .iso file, you can either burn to DVD with disk burning software (use the option "burn image to disk") or create a bootable flash drive to install from.
Well when you download windows your download the ISO. You don't install it from the Microsoft servers or anything. So you need a regular computer to download them to. Then once you download the ISO you either burn it to a DVD or you can use an ISO to USB program to copy the ISO to the USB drive and boot off of that.
