many go with the 4670K or 3570K, depending on software, if using something that can utilize Hyper Threading then up a step to the 4770K or 3770K

Lol, Recording and editing music doesn't take very much processor power at all. You'd be fine with any entry level CPU, save the money on the cpu and buy a more advanced sound card and recording software with microphones
