A few days ago I asked a question on how to update the BIOS of my motherboard but now I'm wondering how to update the rest. Is it as simple as downloading the files and opening them up or is it like BIOS where I have to flash it or something. By the way, I have the ASUS Sabertooth Z77. Thanks in advance :)

google intel chipset update to update the intel chipset. after you update it go to intel web page for drivers there a free driver check there.
for the sound card the newest driver is realteck 2.71 from realteck web page.
the network chipset is intel. mei and other are on intel and windows update.

Can't I just download them from the ASUS website?

Taken from the link to the Audio driver:

Audio drivers available for download from the Realtek website are general drivers for our audio ICs, and may not offer the customizations made by your system/motherboard manufacturer. To be sure you obtain the full features/customizations provided in your original audio product, please download the latest drivers from your system/motherboard manufacturer's website.

Is this a problem?

Also, what about VGA, Firmware, LAN, USB, and SATA drivers?

im running the newest drivers from real on my sabertooth.
nvidia or amd going to have the newest vga drivers.
windows update going to have the newest intel ethernet drivers.
asus has newest usb 3.0 drivers for the asmedia chipset.
firmware for the ssd or other device on the device vendor web page.
mei and other drivers on asus web page and windows update.

under chipset on asus web page for our mb.
Management Engine Interface V8.1.0.1263 for Windows XP 32bit & Vista 32bit & Win7 32bit & Win8 32bit---(WHQL).
Management Engine Interface V8.1.0.1263 for Windows XP 64bit & Vista 64bit & Win7 64bit & Win8 64bit---(WHQL).
for hard drive google the unit part number the only time on a hard drive you do a firmware update is for a bricking issue.

So,

Chipset (Do I just visit this exact link to cehc for updates?)

Audio

Video from Nvidia since I have a GTX 560

Ethernet from Windows Update

USB, MEI, LAN, SATA, and BIOS

And Firmware only if there is an issue with my HDD?

Am I missing anything?

Just a few last questions: How did you find that Intel chipset, specifically? And what is the difference between the Asmedia USB drivers and the Intel ones?

So should I install both the Intel USB drivers and the Asmedia ones? Thank you so much so far for all the help!
