Memory Selection Help Ripjaws X vs Vengeance

I am currently in the middle of ordering parts for my latest build and need some help decided what memory I should get. Right now my two options I am looking at are:

G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB DDR3 2133
-Timing 9-11-11-31
-Cas Latency 9
-Voltage 1.6V -1.65V

or

CORSAIR Vengeance DDR3 1600
-Timing 9-9-9-24
-Cas Latency 9
-Voltage 1.5V

The Corsair set has better timings but a slower clock speed. But the Ripjaws have worse timings but better clock speeds and are cheaper. I do not have much experience with messing with memory speeds and timings so I am not sure if I can get the same timings from the Ripjaws if I reduce the voltage and clock speed. The mobo that I will be using with them will be the ASUS Maximus VI HERO with either a i5-4670K or i7-4770k. I am also open to other suggestions as long as it does not break the bank.

Solution
No messing to it, with the Ripjaws X simply install in 1-3 or 2-4, boot to BIOS, enable XMp and select profile 1, and your there, save, exit and boot....I've run this same set on my Hero (along with a ton of other DRAM, the Hero takes everything I throw at it, I use it to test components for new builds, upgrades and checking for component failures....

If you want a rough comparison, if you were to drop the RJ's down to 1600 they can run at 7-7-7-21 1.52 (that I know of), which is far better than the 9-9-9-24 of the Corsairs you mention

Thanks for the advice. It has been awhile since I have built a system and my new job has allowed me to splerg $1500 on one that I hope will last a long while with some minor upgrades down the road. I thought that it was weird that the RJs were so cheap. Especially compared to the Corsair set.

Would you recomend for me to keep it at stock speeds or reduce it to get the better timing?. From what I have heard the higher speeds do not help much for quad cores.

With you combo, run it at full speed, the Hero loves it, and you will too, especially when multi-tasking, etc.... GSkill is the trend leader in DRAM, they come out with the newer better sets ahead of the others and in many cases, by the time others come out with matching sets they are priced much higher as GSkill already has production running well and a bit of a stockpile so can offer lower prices i.e. think it was Corsair came out with a CL10 set of 2400 a couple or three months back - GSkill had the Trident 2400/10 set out over a year ago (in May, that's when I grabbed a set for my IB build)

Should I try to OC them at all? Maybe not now but in the future. I am trying to get the most for my money and luckily I am able to get the processor at a discount since I have a friend who is a engineer at Intel. Now I am putting two 7950s boosted to 925 MHz.I might OC my processor to 1.25 V to start out. I am going to be using a Corsair H55 water cooler along with the Corsair TX750 PSU and a Samsung 840 EVO SSD. Would I get a noticeable increase in performance at higher RAM clock speeds when my CPU is overclocked?

Also since you have a build with a 4770K and the Hero what voltages were you using to get that 4.6?

On the DRAM stick with 2133 for a while, get your CPu OCed and stable, then kicking the DRAM up to say 2400 is still and option and prob easier with the CPU OC in place. WIll want a better cooler, with the 4670K a Hyper 212 EVO at $35 is better than a H55, would need at least a H80, H100 to top the EVO, I'm still playing voltage wise and OC wise, (in my (non-existent free time) had it stable at 1.25, am try ing play at 1.2 with a positive offset to go to 4.7 and 4.8...... Ask your friend if can get a line on a 4930K for me (an ES would be nice), that's where my 4770K came from, but won't be able to head back to that source till prob Haswell-E, in the meantime I'm looking into a IB-E build

The one thing that I did not do enough research into before I bought it was my cooler. I have always used third-party air coolers in the past and saw the H55 liquid cooler on sale and incorrectly assumed that no air cooler could match a liquid cooler. I think I will get a 212 and try to sell my cooler to someone. Do you have a recommendation for the paste or does the stock paste do a good job? I was looking at getting some IC Diamond.

Also my friend does not work on the hardware team so I am not sure if they can get it for you but I will still ask. I doubt they can get a ES CPU. They are actually on vacation at the moment so it may be a little while. If there is something in particular you want to know however I can pass it on to them and see if they can find out.

Do you use the 5 or 7? It seems that the 7 is a adhesive so if I use it I will be stuck with whatever heatsink I choose for the life of the CPU. And how do you clean your lid and heatsink? In the past I have used rubbing alcohol.
