What is 2D clocks and how do they work?

In GPU tweak there is an option for 2D clocks. Are they separate from regular clocks and require overclocking themselves, or are they just a setting of when you want the GPU to be in 2D and when to be in 3D mode?

In games my GPU usage dips periodically like so:

I have a feeling the GPU is switching into 2D mode while ingame.

How do I stop this?

2d is the old name for text and word. with gpu go into the bios turn off c states to keep your cpu ad system from using enegry savings. in the gpu control panel turn off energy savings mode. with nvidia make sure your you select one monitor mode. in games the dips may be where no one near you or a cut sceen.

in the gpu control pannels you turn off power savings there too??

In CCC I have it set to high performance. I can't find a way to disable it.

C states is the cpu not the gpu hence it was unaffected. C6 is for sleep and hibernate so is another reason it did nothing.

You're posting gpu usage but if it's going to 2d mode then you need to show that.

I don't know for sure if it is going into 2d mode, its just a theory of mine why the usage is dropping.

Afterburner should show your clocks, I see a long scroll bar on the pic, what else is on? You can change what is shown in settings.

I have un-installed and preformed clean driver install and issue is still here.

During the Spike, the CPU will drop from 50 to 30 degrees. I think it's being throttled.

I disabled something in the BIOS, turno core I think it was.

I may have just solved it:

I can't tell if they are gone, or just made them really small.
