I just threw together a new PC with

8GBx1 Crucial Ballistix http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148558
on this mobo
ASUS M5A97 R2.0 http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M5A97_R20/

The DRAM timings default to 9-9-9-24 @ 1600Mhz
The RAM says it supports 8-8-8-24 @ 1600Mhz

When I go into the BIOS to change it, the timing settings are locked to auto and I can't find any means to set them manually.

I thought it might be some weird BIOS issue, so I flashed to the latest BIOS to no avail.

Does anyone have any idea how to set this?

CPU is 4x4.2Ghz FX-4350, if it matters.

Look and see if the mobo has DOCP or EOCP overclock profiles, if so enable it and select your freq, then should be able to manually reset timings if needed
