Currently I own the XFX 7970 GHZ Edition , the card has been nothing but problems with the fan and constantly getting way too hot (even with the fan @ 70% it hits 80 C, no overclocking has been done.) I am impressed with the power of the card for the simple fact that it runs everything I throw at it on maximum, but the faulty fan and heat is an issue for me.

Looking for a 7970 GPU that will give me the same performance but wont have the issues with the fan breaking and the card being too hot.

Should have read more reviews before I purchased, Newegg actually discontinued the item and the reviews for this card on their site is absolutely terrible.

If I had a GPU, not CPU, that reached 80C and the fans were screaming loud at 70% I'd be worried. If you want that GPU to last then you need it running cooler.

My GPU reaches 70-75C (in a warm room) and fan gets up to 45% so I can't really notice it. Normally it's under 70C and that is a great piece of mind.

You might have better airflow in your case than OP but max operating temps for GPU's are in the 95°C to 105°C range depending on generation. That OP's fan has not kicked up to 100% at that temp means that he is still within the operating criteria that manufacturer programed the card for.

The fan makes an extremely 'coily or tinny' sound when spinning. Its actually really annoying. I looked on newegg and there were several people with this issue. I contacted XFX and replaced the fan, same issue started happening again and that is when the card started getting hot.

I have a DD 7950 that I had to RMA because of bad Vram but I have never had fan problems, have you considered simply RMAing the card to them?
