I have got a intel core i3 3210 @3.2ghz with hyperthreading enabled just wanted to know whether it can match with a quad core processor with no hyperthreading or does my i3 with ht deliver a decent quad core experience while gaming

Solution
It can match an AMD quad core in games, but no it won't match an I5. Hyperthreading isn't used much in games (if at all, I don't know of any that support hyperthreading anyway). The i3 will play games ok (games will be playable), but it just doesn't have muscle of an i5.

I have a i3 2100 and in some newer games the workload is more then 50% on all 'four' cores. By my understanding that would mean the theoretical workload on the to physical cores is more then 100%.

It does help a bit but I would recommend a quad for gaming.
