I have a strange problem with this board using an Intel I3 CPU, Crucial memory and either a Seagate 250Gb or 2TB drive.

I installed Win7 pro and everything seems fine until I turn it off. The next time I turn it on, it will not fire up, I get no video output at all.

If I reset the RTC and load optimal defaults it will be OK until the next time I turn it off.

I have searched for the Clear CMOS button on the backplane but there isn't one. There are no revision numbers on the board so I assume I have an early example.

I have tried using an I7 CPU and Kingston memory - same problem! I have also tried a couple of different PSU's.

I am a very experienced PC builder having been playing this game for over 25 years but this one has me baffled.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Think I might have solved this one myself. After 11 attempts to get the right BIOS from the Asus website I finally managed to to update the BIOS. It seems that my board is a Rev 3.1 even though it isn't marked up.

Anyway the updating of the BIOS worked and it has now rebooted successfully 3 times - making sure I disconnected power each time, and it now seems to be OK.

I suspect that the problem is actually the CPU and the old BIOS. I think that the CPU I am using is a 22Nm version and that the old BIOS was only reliable with a 33Nm CPU.

Anyway, all seems to be sorted now and I hope that this helps someone else.

Hi,

Tried pressing F8 when turning but as there was no video couldn't see what was happening. However the BIOS update has solved the problem.

Just trying it with the Crucial Vengance memory which seems OK, next trick is to try the I7 CPU.

Thanks
