Are there any dangers of using a really old pc?

I'm planning on building quite a good pc and I thought that to save money which I could spend on a better graphics card or something I could use one of my parents old computer cases. It's a dell dimension 5000 would this cause any serious problems and damage any component.

You can spend $20 and get a better case than an old POS Dell case. Most likely your parts wont fit. Just how it is with mass produced PCs. And even if they do, if you build a decent PC do you really want it in that case?

I don't really mind how the computer looks I only really care how it performs. But if its going to be a big fuss I guess stretching my budget a tiny amount won't hurt. Plus I'm not very experienced when building pcs so I don't really want to make it that much more difficult for myself. Thanks for the response

You probably won't be able to use the power button or USB ports as they are different than standard ones. I have 3 Dell Dimensions and all 3 of them are unique. None of them allow you to swap a standard ATX or micro-ATX motherboard in. You will be better off spending $30 or $40 buying a new case. Most of these Dimension cases are micro-ATX.

Thanks that was more of an answer I was looking for, I just wanted to know if it wasn't compatible.
